 The Spanish Embassy located in the Hague is at the service of those Spanish citizens living in Netherlands and those foreigners who wish to issue visas or other documents. On the Spanish Embassy, it is located the Consular Section where you can issue different documents such as legalizations, visas, passports, birth certificates, among others.

On this office you can request any of the following documents or services:

  • Passports (new, renewal).

  • Birth and Death certificates, Family books, and other documents issued by the Civil Registry. Any document issued by this Office will be entered in the corresponding book of registry in the National Registry of Spain as well.

  • Consular registration or cancellations.

  • Legalizations of documents or copies so they can be considered valid in the Spanish territory.

  • Short term visas as the Schengen visa or long term visas such as study, work or residence visas.

  • Request the NIE or “Numero de Identidad de Extranjero” in Spanish.

  • Recuperate the Spanish Nationality.

If you want to request documentation or a visa in the Consular Section of the Embassy, you shall either appear in person at the Embassy or send the documentation by post. The address is as follows:

 It is important to bear in mind that you should issue any visa through the Consulate located in your home country, you cannot apply for a visa while you are in Spanish territory, since your passport is taken by the Spanish authorities at the Consulate to affix the granted visa. For example, if you are looking forward to study in Spain, and you have the acceptance letter you should issue your visa before coming to Spain and starting your classes.

It is advisable that you request your visa with enough time, for the Spanish authorities normally take between 1 and 2 months after the application date to send you the result of your application.
